Benchmark Alcohol & Drug Policy

Purpose:

The purpose of this Alcohol and Drug Abuse Policy is to establish guidelines and procedures to ensure a safe and healthy work environment for all employees and contractors at Benchmark Group of Companies. Substance abuse can impair judgment, affect productivity, and jeopardize the safety of employees, clients, and the public. Therefore, adherence to this policy is mandatory for all employees and contractors.

Scope:

This policy applies to all employees and contractors of Benchmark Group of Companies, including full-time, part-time, temporary, and contract workers. It encompasses all company premises, work-related events, and activities.

Policy:

1. Prohibition of Substance Abuse:

a. The possession, distribution, sale, purchase, or use of illegal drugs or unauthorized prescription drugs on company premises or during work hours is strictly prohibited.b. The consumption of alcohol during work hours, except for company-sanctioned events where alcohol is served responsibly, is prohibited.

2. Prescription Medication:

a. Employees who are prescribed medication that may impair their ability to perform their duties safely are required to disclose this information to their supervisor or HR department.

b. Employees must not operate machinery, drive vehicles, or undertake any tasks that may endanger themselves or others while under the influence of prescription medication that impairs their ability to do so.

3. Drug Testing:

a. Benchmark Group of Companies reserves the right to conduct drug and alcohol testing under certain circumstances, including but not limited to reasonable suspicion of substance abuse, post-accident situations, or as required by law.

b. Refusal to undergo drug or alcohol testing when requested may result in disciplinary action, up to and including termination.

3. Confidentiality:

a. All information regarding an employee's substance abuse or participation in a drug or alcohol rehabilitation program will be kept confidential to the extent permitted by law.

b. Any information obtained through drug or alcohol testing will be treated with the utmost confidentiality and shared only with those who have a legitimate need to know.

3. Consequences of Violation:

a. Violation of this Alcohol and Drug Abuse Policy may result in disciplinary action, up to and including termination of employment.
